WEEK 10
Introduction to After Effect
After effect is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing. It can be used in film, Tv and web video creation.
The effects can used to manipulate imagery and combine layers of video and images into the same scene.
Motion graphics animation - Manipulating vector and resterized art to create and tell a story. (Can integrate physical through phorographs and videography)
Pre- Compositing in Photoshop
- Compositing layers and the layers need to be arrange and rename. (More easy to be animated in After Effect)
Pre- Compositing in After Effect
- Compositing layers in After Effects and the layer need to be organized and synchronized to the external software plateforms. (After Effects files does not embed its media, it link to it.)
TUTORIAL / PRACTICAL
After Effects Exercise
In this practical exercise, we were required to used the PSD composiiton file given to make an animation. The main purpose of this exercise familiarizing ourselves with the After Effects tools so that we can use it in our final project.
Progress:
First, create folders for each section so we can edit them more easily if needed. Then, import the PSD file given into the folder and make sure the duration setting is 15 seconds,
Experiment with the transform in each layers, for the circle at the upper part I edit the rotation to 49.8° when it move to 7 seconds and rotate back to 0° when it's end. So, the circle will slowly rotate clockwise to 49.8° until the 7 seconds, then slowly rotate counterclockwise back to 0° until 15 seconds.
For the circle at the lower part, I use 2 transform type to animated it. I edit the rotate to 45° when it move to 7 seconds to make a connection with the upper part circle and rotate 1 round back to 0° when its end. Besides, I lower the scale to 75% when it move to 7 seconds and back to 100% at the end. The movement will be rotate to 45° and smaller the size to 75% until the 7 seconds, then rotate clockwise 1 round to 0° and the scale return to 100% at the sametime.
REFLECTION
This exercise was interesting and helping me explore to Adobe After Effects tools and technique while creating a animation. By organizeing layers, adjusting the transform properties such as rotation, scale and position into a 15 second animation. Experiments with the circle's movements and the fish's position taught me how to bring static elements to life with creativity. Overall, this exercise increase my familiar to After Effects and highlighted the value of experimentation in an animation.
