INSTRUCTION


In project 2, we were required to edit the Lalin video by the video clips given that our senior shoots and make the video similar to the original Lalin's video. Then, based on the video that we edited, we need to color grading the video clips and make it look balance brightness and dark.

Next, we need to edit the video clips that we shoot of Everything Everwhere All at Once, color grading it and make the video look like a Movies Trailor.


Lalin Video Edit

First, I import the Lalin's video clips and graphics to Adobe Promium Pro (PR). Then based on the original video, I tried to edit the video look similar and close to it. We also required to make the Lalin's video in 35s sharp.

For the color grading part, we need to adjust all the video clips to the effect that we want by using the Lumetri Color and curve at first in each video clips.

After edit all the color of the video clips, we need to check the color balance by using Lumetri Scopes. It can help us to chack the brightess and darkess each video clips by combined with the use of comparison view tools.

Then, we need to open the RGB panel to check all the clips and make sure they have a similar rgb value, if not need to edit the clips using Lumetri Color.

Lastly, we need to add a adjustment layer to edit the overall video to a more contrast way through using the "S" curve in Lumetri Color.


EEAAO Video Pre-Production

In this pre-production the whole class separate into 2 groups, and all of the members need to choose it own personal task in this project. I am taking part in Asistance director.

Before I started doing the video edit, I find the background music for the trailor at first.

I found some sound effect from Freesound that can apply in my Trailor.

Then, I follow the background music tempo to edit my trailor and adding the soundeffect from Freesound to the right place.

Besides, we were required to edit the color tones for each scene, need more than one type of color tones like, bluenish, greenish, warm, cold and others. I also compar the scene to see the color contrast and light and shadow in different scenes.

Lastly, I add some text between the video interval, and adding a grey graydient to the text "IN CINEMA JULY 10" to create a 3D effect.

REFLECTION

Findings

I was looking foward to this exercie. So, before we started our shooting in Pre-Production part, the asistance directors which is me and my friend need to comfirm the order in which the scene were shot first with director and group member. After decided all the orders, me and my friend create a word document to list down the order of scenes, what to bring, tips of how to shoot, and what the actor need to do in that specific scenes then we send to the group and remind them not to forget. 

Observation 

During the shooting process, it was a lot of fun. After having a short brief by Mr Martin, we know the basic of how to shoot the video formally like the director only say "Action" when the asistance director finished "cut" the clapperboard. Besides, the clapperboard details is for us easy to edit the video when after finished shooting, we can just see the clapperboard in the first to comfirm that is that the scene that we want to edit. The challenges in this project 2 for me were the color grading and edit, I was quite confused on which color tones suitable to apply in the scenes and the combined between backgrpund music and video clips. Because I want to follow the music tempo to edit the scene and make it have a feel of fusion.

Experiments

Overall, I feel interesting and fun in this project, it makes me learn how the movies / trailor / video has been shoot and let me have a deep understand about how the behind scene works. This shooting exercise is very meaningful to me, I have a greate memory for that, all of our group members were very nice and we have a lot of fun working together. It also teach me about how to collaborate with a big group of people. Besides, color grading also makes me feel suprisingly. Before that, I would never know that how powerful the color tones can contribute in visual storytelling. Each color tones show different feelling and story. I was very grateful to all my friends, group members and lecturer and hope I can work to them more in the future.
