REFLECTION


Overall, from this experiment, I would conclude that AI can be a valuable supporting tool when it is used as a reference source or as a fundamental design assistant. It helps us better understand and practise the structural logic behind a professional design language pipeline, especially when exploring ideas, analysing references, and developing initial concepts. By using AI as a guide rather than relying on it to fully generate the final outcome, we can improve our understanding of the design process while still maintaining our own creative direction and decision-making.

However, AI also has its limitations. Sometimes, it may misunderstand the given information, interpret the requirements in the wrong order, or overlook certain details, which can result in outcomes that feel inconsistent, unnatural, or different from the original intention. The more instructions, actions, and information provided within a single text prompt, the higher the chance that AI may become confused and produce results that do not fully match the desired outcome.

Through this process, I learned that a more effective way to work with AI is to provide information step by step and guide it through each stage of development. By breaking down the design process into smaller tasks, AI can better understand the purpose of each adjustment and maintain more accuracy throughout the workflow. However, the instructions should not become overly complicated or contain too many details at once, as excessive information can reduce the effectiveness of the communication.

Another important lesson I discovered is that maintaining consistency throughout multiple conversations with AI can be challenging. Sometimes, AI may forget previous instructions, design decisions, or specific requirements from earlier discussions, causing unwanted changes to the existing design direction. Therefore, it is necessary to repeatedly remind AI not to alter previous design elements unless specifically requested, and to only add, refine, or modify certain aspects.

AI should be viewed as a collaborative assistant rather than a replacement for the designer’s creative thinking. When used properly, it can accelerate the exploration process, provide useful references, and help designers understand different approaches. However, human judgement, critical thinking, and clear communication remain essential to ensure that the final outcome accurately reflects the intended design vision.
