WEEK 2
Introduction to basic composition:
- Focal Point - A strong focal point will help your viewer's eyes settle on the important pieces
- Scale and Hierarchy - Help to communicate hierarchy by drawing attention toward and away from certain elements.
- Balance the element - Asymmetrical balance is to think of each element as having a ‘weight’ to it.
- White Space - Help your design to breathe.
Rules of Thirds:- The Rule of Thirds is the process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines.
- This imaginary grid yields nine parts with four intersection points.
Rules of Thirds is a way to:- Used composition technique that are in line with what pleasing to the eye.
- Creativity use negative space.
- Create conservation between the subjsct and background.
- The Golden Ratio is a mathematical ratio and commonly found in nature, it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
- The Golden Ratio provides a sense of artistry, harmoni and proportion.
- The Golden Ratio is a useful guideline for determining dimensions of the layout (1:1.618)
Exercise:
In week 2 tutorial, we were required to cut out pictures from magazine or newspaper and collage them together. In additionly, we must have at least 3 design with different proportion or picture, then chose 1 of it as our final design.

At first, I didn’t have any specific ideas in mind. So, I looked through magazines and just cut out pictures that I liked, most of which had a lot of blue in them. After gathering all the elements, I began Since many of the images I chose were blue, it made it easier to create a harmonious overall look.
Mr Fauzi chose the third design for me, then I remained the 2 character and change the back elements to buildings and add a toy on the front as my final design.
