Task 3: Poster Design

For this assignment we needed to create a typographic poster that examined typography as a visual and emotional component. This poster design was a collaborative task with the Digital Photography and Imaging module. This is an opportunity to experiment with typography as a visual medium, adding small graphic elements and Illustrator methods to refine the message.

The typography artist at the first with the text "YOU ARE HERE" is Gemma O'Brien; she is an Australian typography artist and muralist known for his vibrant, bold designs and complex illustrative lettering. She creates large-scale hand-drawn murals and digital artworks that seamlessly blend typography and illustration. I love how she combines nature and the pattern and makes them visually appealing and immersive.

The lower part on the left side is the artwork from typography artist Ed fella, His work often features distorted typefaces, complex compositions and collages, showcasing his playful and eccentric style by blending art and design in ways that challenge convention.

Reflection
Poster design was a fun experience that allowed me to explore typography as a visual and emotional component. Taking inspiration from artists such as Gemma O'Brien and Ed Fella, I aimed to combine text with line. Through this project, I deepened my understanding of typography as a medium for conveying mood and meaning. Every step from sketch to perfection in Adobe Illustrator requires me to experiment with textures, shadows, and lighting effects to create a poster that creatively combines typography and photography. This task not only honed my technical skills but also emphasized the importance of references. Good reference materials can give you creative inspiration and ensure that your work is not too scattered.
