PROCESS WORK

Moodboard

The moodboard mostly use genshin character splash art as a references, besides I aslo research about the water elemets flow and the texture or patterns to help me gain inspiration of creating my character splash art.

Sketches - Character Backdrop

I explored different type of splash art and I choose the first right upper and the last right lower one to explored more.

Hero Poses Exploration

Poses Exploration 01

The character is using her hand to summon talismans in the air, calling upon the water elements and the talismans to aid her in battle.
  • Symbolize Control: Shows her mastery over water and talismans.
  •  Emphasize Connection: Highlights the bond between the character and her magical tools.
  • Show Action & Power: Gesture implies she’s actively summoning and directing energy.

Poses Exploration 02

The character floats gracefully in the air, surrounded by flowing water, holding a talisman. Glowing, water-like, tail-like weapons swirl around her, highlighting her mastery of water magic.
  •  Show Mastery & Control: Floating and commanding water highlights her skill and confidence.
  • Emphasize Power Manifestation: Water and glowing weapons make her abilities visually striking.
  • Highlight Connection with Talismans: Reaching for the talisman emphasizes its importance in her power.

Poses Exploration 03

The character standing with one hand tracing a shimmering amulet in the air, the other holding her magical artifact, channeling its power to summon an even more powerful amulet. With a burst of elemental energy, the tail feathers of a magical peacock appeared behind her, surrounded by flowing water and shimmering tail-like weapons, which symbols of her family's heritage, while a magic circle engraved with her family crest appeared at her feet.

  • Show Mastery & Control: Tracing the talisman and wielding the weapon highlights her command over her powers.
  • Emphasize Heritage & Identity: The magical peacock-tail form signifies her status as the family heir.
  • Focus & Drama: Central standing pose and visual effects make her the clear focal point of the splash art.
  • Create Dynamic Motion: Orbital effects, flowing water, and talisman trails guide the viewer’s eye and convey energy.

So, after consultation with Mr Fitri, I choose the Poses Exploration 03 as the final and start to refined it.

REFLECTION

Throughout this task, I realised how important that express a character's personality and strory through splash art. Working on the splash art made me see how the different combination of lightning, pose, elements and colour give people different understanding about the character. It was challenging at first, but also very fun to explore different splash art and make my character feel powerful, elegant and connected to her personality. This task pushed me to think deeper about what makes a character visually attractive and meaningful.

I feel like this task help me build more understanding about the character design structure and more confident in the design direction. Even though sometimes I wasn't sure that if my ideas were strong enough, but after getting feedback and refining the artwork helped me understand my own style better. Overall, I enjoyed the experience because it was so much fun of creating your own character that you can put everthing that you want to the character. I hope to improve and develop more complex character in the future.
